Who doesn’t love a story about drag queens saving a local business? Charlie Price inherits his family’s nearly-bankrupt shoe factory in Northampton, while his snobby fiancée just wants to move to London and escape the perils of small-town life. When Charlie meets Lola, a feisty and vivacious drag queen, at a nightclub in the city, he has an idea: What if the factory entered a niche market? Fast forward to Lola and her entourage visiting Price & Sons, to some of the workers’ chagrin, to request some reinforced steel in their 4 and a half inch heels. Charlie seems just the man for the job. “The sex is in the heel,” after all. Together, Lola and Charlie form an unstoppable partnership and teach each other and their friends about love, acceptance, and learning to “just be who you wanna be.”

Based on the 2005 film of the same name (starring a young Chiwetel Ejiofor as Lola), the musical won the 2013 Tony Award for Best Musical and the 2016 Olivier Award in 2016 for the West End premiere. Broadway legend Jerry Mitchell directed and choreographed the show, with book by Harvey Fierstein and music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper. “The New York Times’s” Ben Brantley advises, “Try to resist if you must,” and you’ll leave the theater dancing with a warm heart and inspired mind. Everybody say yeah!

Appropriate for ages 10 and up. Children under the age of 4 are not permitted in the theatre.

A whole new world landed on Broadway in 2014, when the Tony Award-nominated Best Musical “Aladdin” flew into the New Amsterdam Theatre. Based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name, the musical follows the titular street urchin as he journeys to the Cave of Wonders, where he discovers a magical lamp that changes his life forever. Unleashing a friendly and funny Genie who will grant him three wishes, Aladdin transforms into royalty to win the heart of Princess Jasmine. The only thing standing in his way is the Sultan’s villainous Grand Vizier, Jafar, who will stop at nothing to steal the lamp and take the throne

Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw, “Aladdin” brings audiences on an enchanting adventure to the deserts of Agrabah, complete with high-flying carpet rides and a toe-tapping Genie that will have you wishing for more.

ALADDIN recommends that children be at least six years old to attend a performance of ALADDIN.

## What to watch for
The 337 costumes worn in “Aladdin” were all custom made by hand.

In the Genie’s musical number “Friend Like Me,” there are 1,428 Swarovski crystals on a pair of men’s pants.

James Monroe Iglehart, who originated the role of the Genie in the stage production, took home the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Jonathan Freeman, who voiced the villainous Jafar in the 1992 film, reprised his performance on stage in the original cast of the musical.

Don’t expect Aladdin’s monkey sidekick, Abu, to make an appearance. In the stage adaptation, Aladdin has a trio of friends named Omar, Babkak, and Kassim.
